LISTEN: “Deserter” by Lonely the Brave

The Day’s War by Lonely the Brave

I love when musicians talk about one another. Not in a bad way, but in an appreciative way. As a fan because in all honesty, most of us are fans of music. We’re either behind the scenes or the creators.

Dave Pearson (@DaveLaceyPTS) from the band Lacey tweeted “Well, the new Lonely The Brave album is the best thing I’ve heard all year.”

Of course, I had to go investigate. All year?

Hello, my ears fell in love.

If I didn’t know any better I would have said Peter Gabriel had been guest vocals on “Deserter”, but no, that would be lead singer David Jake’s vocals.

My mind was blown and my ears were confused as I played “Deserter” again. David’s voice holds such emotion and strength as he sings the lyrics: “I’ll baptize in the turn of the corner. I will dive through the gates at the border. I will lie in the sweet of the water. I’ll see clear and I’ll see that I want you…But when the leaves have blew away, you turn deserter…”

The raw emotion of this song is just amazing and I will admit, I do agree with Dave in parts of his statement, THE DAY’S WAR by Lonely the Brave is one of the best albums I’ve heard this year.
