Sometimes, I hear a song and I think, if I possessed a more chaotic and frenzied mind than I already do, this would be the soundtrack to my inner being.
My inner being soundtrack is “Silent Acquiescence”, the latest single from Sifting.
The L.A. thrash metal band has released a song that not only shows the massive musical dexterity of its members, Eduardo Osuna Gil (guitar, vocals), Joey Aguirre (drums), Wins Jarquin (bass), and Mo La Mastro (guitars) but also their musical prowess in uniting complex melodies with soul crushing rhythms in cacophonous volumes.
But the music isn’t the only thing pushing the volume dial into the red. The lyrics of “Silent Acquiescence” speak volumes,
Are the lyrics about surrendering to the quiet of the mind or are they more about surrendering to the quiet sidelines of life and forgoing the life that could be?
“Silent Acquiescence” pivots swiftly from bold clean melodic vocals to harsh vocals on a dime. The two fuse together in a perfect marriage that is harmonious and chaotic…the yin to the other’s yang.
The dichotomy of the vocals, the ferocity of the music, and the subtle duality of the lyrics make “Silent Acquiescence” a paragon of a single for Sifting’s forthcoming album.
“Silent Acquiescence” will be out on Eclipse Records on June 16. Pre-save “Silent Acquiescence”.
