[MEDIA RELEASE] Public Animal, the renowned power quartet celebrated for their distinct blend of dual male/female lead vocals, captivating Hammond organ melodies, and a profound love for Marshall amps, is thrilled to announce the release of their latest music video, “Summer’s In The Tide”.
This release comes as part of their limited edition cassette drop of the long-anticipated double LP, Sun Won’t Wait, courtesy of Northern Haze. Marking a poignant chapter in their eight-year journey, this release encapsulates the essence of Public Animal,’s enduring legacy.
The band released two full-lengths and a slew of 7″s, toured across Canada, and shared stages with Imperial State Electric, Supersuckers, and the MC50 among others. Life happened and the band decided to hit the brakes, but not before running the tank dry and recording a pile of songs they’d been working on for a third LP. The tracks came together over the span of a year and were mixed over the course of the pandemic. Last year the band finally completed Sun Won’t Wait, a 19-song homage to the four seasons, initially releasing it digitally.
The latest endeavour, a collaboration with Northern Haze, sees Sun Won’t Wait receiving its exclusive physical manifestation on limited edition cassette. To celebrate, drummer Ryan Gassi spearheaded the creation of the music video for “Summer’s In The Tide,” a power-pop anthem that stands as a testament to the band’s creative evolution and enduring spirit.
The video, conceived by Gassi, serves as a visual journey through Public Animal’s history, featuring a tapestry of unreleased footage from past recordings, live performances, and video shoots. This retrospective approach not only honors the band’s past but also underscores the timeless nature of their music.
Adding a layer of innovation to the project, the video incorporates a unique visual overlay created by Craig, known artistically as multimonos. Utilizing a custom code, the overlay presents a dynamic visualization of the song that changes with each execution, blending audio frequency data with a dash of randomness to dictate colors, lines, and angles. This groundbreaking technique ensures that “Summer’s In The Tide” offers a fresh and immersive experience with every viewing.
As Public Animal bids farewell to their fans, they leave behind a rich catalogue of music, now available at discounted prices on their Bandcamp page (publicanimal.bandcamp.com). The “Summer’s In The Tide” video stands as a fitting epilogue to their story, inviting fans old and new to explore the depth and breadth of their musical journey.
