[MEDIA RELEASE] Chicago based death metal outfit Necronomicon Ex Mortis have released “Leprechaun” with an accompanying lyric video. The track is taken from the forthcoming EP You and Your Friends Are Dead: Game Over which will be released on June 29th, 2024.
The band’s particular flavor of death metal includes a blood soaked shred twist. With two EPs already under their belts despite only emerging out of the shadows last year, Necronomicon Ex Mortis are preparing to unleash their next batch of high-octane, heavy horrors.
Necronomicon Ex Mortis was formed by Michael Nystrom Bala out of a desire to combine elements of classic death metal, 80s shred worship, and gory lyrics about B-horror movies. After writing far too many songs, Michael contacted guitarist Manuel Barbara, who joined the band because he had “nothing better to do.” Shortly after, bassist Yusuf Rashid joined the band so he could escape the jazz world and play music people would listen to outside of an elevator. The three amigos then enlisted fellow Berklee Bros Craig Schmuhl and Joey Ferretti, on vocals and drums respectively. Apparently they didn’t have much better to do, either.
The quintet debuted with their EP Necroconicon Ex Mortis on March 31st, 2023, followed by the release of the Silver Bullet EP in August of that year. As of now, the boys are back in the laboratory of a mad scientist, preparing songs for the 3rd release. In a few short months, there will be more tunes to haunt your dreams.
