[MEDIA RELEASE] No advice is better than bad advice as psych-punk supergroup, The Eggmen Whoooooo! release their final, pre-debut album single… “It’s Just Your Mind“.
Ten tracks of fresh, valve-powered poppy psych-punk arrives with the debut album from wondrous Welsh supergroup, The Eggmen Whoooooo! this month, but not before they’ve released another groovy, sales-driving, hip-shaking single. Putting “It’s Just Your Mind” out into the world, the six-piece fire up the Farfisa, set the fuzz to maximum and open one more door on the countdown calendar that leads to Fri 25 October 2024 – the release date of their long-anticipated long-player, Fuzzy Eggs, Please.
Described by the band as ‘pure trash’, yet showing its appeal amongst listeners keen to hear the best parts of their record collections played back at them, but differently, Fuzzy Eggs, Please will soon be released on Super Furry Animal-associated Strangetown Records. Combining Beach Boys-indebted vocal harmonies, Doors-indebted electric piano and Ramones-indebted fuzzy guitars, all loaded onto a metronomic Wrecking Crew-indebted rhythm section, the deadly serious unseriousness of The Eggmen Whoooooo! is what makes them the best band in the Vale Of Neath, if not the whole World.
Following up previous hints of what’s to come, releasing the singles, I Don’t Care, Eggman v Hellboy and Rwy’n Dy Garu Di into an unsuspecting world, The Eggmen Whoooooo! celebrate ‘album eve’ with It’s Just Your Mind’s snaking riffs, beat club groove and sage advice to ignore anyone who offers benign, cookie-cutter advice in a time of crisis.
Frontman, Benedict E Frye says:
“The verses are a list of someone’s problems that they may be dealing with and the choruses are of some well-meaning person brushing it off and saying: ‘it’s alright, you’ll be fine, it’s all just in your mind’. Yeah, good advice, Numbnuts.”
The Eggmen Whoooooo! has brought together musicians from Welsh titanic forces, El Goodo, Los Blancos and Trecco Beis, alongside producer, Thighpaulsandra (Spiritualized, Tim Burgess), setting to plastic the ideas of six musicians unleashed from post-global crisis boredom. Taking to Aeriel Studios at the top of a mountain in Carmarthenshire throughout 2022, as soon as they were sure they wouldn’t be asked to stay indoors for another year of their lives, The Eggmen Whoooooo! unburdened themselves of their musical obsessions. Whilst only performing live within Wales this year, the band stands prepared to jump as many geographical borders as they have musical ones.
Joining Frye as The Eggmen Whoooooo! are Gregg Boyle, Sheldon Advocaat, Thom Lett, Gwyn Ŵy and Sue Flay.
Fuzzy Eggs, Please will be released on vinyl, CD and digital formats.
