Being from Charlotte, when we saw the following Tweet from CLTmusicnews, we wondered why a band would give such a statement.
Whoa! Just Announced: @DieAntwoord at @AmosSouthend June 12th? http://t.co/UNz17E0sbl

1) They’re from Johannesburg – okay, out of country band touring through Charlotte, NC. Definitely not worth a whoa, but understandable.
2) We went to Die Antwoord‘s site to take listen to their sound – Fucking whoa! This artist is coming through the Bible Belt? I hope Charlotte gets this band and is ready for this band.
If you do not know Die Antwoord (and we didn’t until we saw the above Tweet – thanks @CLTmusicnews), let’s give you a little background.
Die Antwoord (Afrikaans: “The Answer”) is from Johannesburg, South African. The rap-rave band formed in Cape Town in 2008 and is fronted by vocalists Ninja and Yolandi Visser (we are sure she is part alien) with music produced by DJ Hi-Tek. They lyrics to their songs are performed in Afrikaans, Xhosa, and English. They’re style incorporates elements of zef culture and is described as modern and trashy, appropriating out-of-date, discarded cultural elements.
Check out their video for “Cookie Thumper” below and if you like what you hear, head over to their website http://www.dieantwoord.com and you can download the song “Dis Iz Why I’m Hot (Zef Remix)” for free.
