On this week’s New Music Radar (in no particular order)

ColourMind“Quarter Life Crisis” is a perfect example of punk rock. Infectious chorus, smart lyrics, sharp riffs and vocals. The band says the song was created for others to take that next step in life!

Cathari – From the EP It Will Hurt the Entire Time You Are Alive (May 24), the “Weight” is the band’s first song since moving from doom metal to noisecore.

Sentiment Dissolve – From their debut album The Orwellian Dream (May 24), “Forced Birther” was the last song recorded for the album and is lyrically about “implanting a uterus into a pro-lifer until the offspring violently consumes its host. We wanted to turn the tables on the misogyny that’s rampant in brutal death metal, and give anti-abortionists (or ‘forced birthers’ as we prefer to call them) a taste of their own medicine”.

Vicolo Inferno“The Gift” is from their forthcoming album Circles (May 31) and is a fantasy song about the moon observing the evolution of the human race and pondering if humanity is ready to receive the gift of death.

The Chase by Nate Silva – with his deeply personal debut album, the singer songwriter explained how a tough breakup and healing from the breakup inspired the lyrics of The Chase. The album is a combination of rock and folk with drummer/vocalist Matt Babineau and bassist/vocalist Dan Joseph joining Nate on the journey.

Calamity by From Dying Suns – the death metal band featuring members of Augury, Killitorous, and Aeternam were inspired by 90s games  like Castlevania and Ghosts & Goblins. Like a game, each track represents a different level that pushes one into a dark fantasy narrative.

Phantasm by Deliria – vocalist Adam Rupp is a busy man. He appears on I Am a Demon, Vesseles debut EP that was released this week as well. With Phantasm, Deliria explores dark realms and the shadowy reality of everyday struggles. The eight tracks are the perfect soundtrack to the horrifying existential dread we all feel.

Reload the Violet by Violet Eternal  – debut album from Italian/Japanese band showcases their blend of power and Asian inspired choruses along with shredding guitar solos and fast-paced rhythms.
