Our inaugural year featured a remarkable 1,178 sessions and events, welcoming over 287,000 attendees and participants from 41 countries. Numbers aside, it was the countless serendipitous encounters, professional goals kicked and ideas sparked that stole the show.
Sydney proudly stands as the only city outside of Austin, Texas, to host SXSW, cementing its status as the global centre point for creativity in the Asia-Pacific region. Year after year, Sydney showcases everything from international sporting events, Australian premieres of blockbuster musicals and a calendar bursting with cultural events including Mardi Gras, Sydney Festival and Vivid Sydney, delivering more than $1 billion into the local economy.
Now is your chance to bring something incredible to the SXSW Sydney 2024 program.
SESSION SELECT
Do you have a panel, presentation, workshop, meet up or podcast that’s going to inspire real change? Submit your ideas to SXSW Sydney’s Session Select and our community — along with a team of Conference advisors — will choose who features at this year’s event.
In 2024, we have 23 Conference tracks to choose from, including a few brand-new ones. You spoke, we listened and now SXSW Sydney has included tracks for the Creator Economy, Cyber & Your Data, Education & Skills, Fashion, Lifestyle & Beauty, and Food.
SXSW Sydney’s Session Select process underscores our belief in the enduring power of an engaged community, to foster collaboration and creative exchange on a global scale. As Rohit Bhargava said at last year’s event, “I believe that the only future we can make is the one that we can imagine.”
SXSW Sydney’s Managing Director Colin Daniels said, “Session Select is the spark for the SXSW Sydney Conference. It is how our brilliant creative community sets the agenda with their ideas for the conversations and stimulating content that shapes the conference. I am so excited to see and hear what our global thought leaders come up with for the second SXSW Sydney.”
GAMES, MUSIC & SCREEN SHOWCASES
Submissions are also open for our Games, Music and Screen Festivals. We’re looking for your innovative, abstract, genre-defying feature films, shorts, games, bands, solo projects, music videos and episodic works. We are also now accepting applications for fiction and non-fiction projects that use virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR).
