Emerging from the wave of their 2020 EP Shifting, The Lonely Surf are poised to close 2023 with a resounding crescendo through their latest single, “12 Months Out,” released via Disconnect Disconnect Records.
“12 Months Out” is a bouncy, toe tapping, head bobbing track that makes one crave, at least those of us old enough to remember, the scorching summer days drenched in sweat and dust as one stood in front of Warped Tour stages singing along with fellow fans.
Singer-songwriters and guitarists, Dom Wright and Matt Gibbons, along with George Fullerton on drums and Daniel Mundy on bass, are crafting exceptional pop-punk and “12 Months Out” echoes with elements of bands like Story of the Year, Yellowcard, Taking Back Sunday, and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.
On the song, Dom says,
‘12 Months Out’ is about taking time out to reflect on tough situations and realising that you’re stuck in a cycle, doing things that aren’t helping you and not looking after yourself. It’s about ultimately letting go of things that you hold close and coming out the other side with a fresh perspective.
With infectious hooks, soaring guitar melodies, and catchy lyrics, “12 Months Out” is a pop-punk anthem primed and ready for audiences to sing along too.
