When she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2021, singer songwriter, ROREY, found the creative spark to write six of the eight songs on her forthcoming sophomore EP, Dysphoria set to be released on May 17th.
Until then, she gets frank and real about her recovery with her latest single, “Standby”. Explaining the inspiration, ROREY says,
“I wrote this song during a manic episode in 2021. It was my ultimate epiphany in understanding that my healing process wasn’t going to happen instantaneously, I couldn’t just “Standby” waiting for it to happen. I had to take action and commit to getting better, no one was going to do that for me. I had two choices to accept the help offered to me or continue lamenting that everybody was living life and I was stuck getting nowhere.”
Releasing her first single, “Predictable” in 2021, ROREY’s music is filled with vulnerability and honesty that show in the lyrics and hooks. And nothing is safe from being used in her music either, be it personal text conversations or drawing inspiration around her.
She confides,
“My songwriting has been my greatest confidant and my creative process my only reprieve from the precarious nature of life.”
With its ethereal vocals and haunting melodies, both “StandBy” and ROREY are hypnotic and healing.
