Burial Path has delivered a unique, almost cinematic atmosphere that pulls one into a dark and dreamlike state where fear and acceptance collide with their latest track “The Luminary”.
Aïcha Finnleikr, the band’s vocalist, explains,
“‘The Luminary’ is an exploration and interpretation of the unconscious mind’s processing of overwhelming fears in a dream state. Lyrically, the song visits what it means to understand and make peace with what we cannot control. Each instrument was written in a way that would add a feeling of tension and dread. The post-production adds further to that with droning tones and percussive elements that can be jarring and unsettling to the mind.”
This sentiment is reflected in every element of the song. From the raw intensity of the vocals to the blistering instrumentation to the ethereal sounds, they create a constant tension between brutality and unsettling calm. With Burial Path introducing these moments of eerie calm that enhance the sense of unease, they prove they are a band that does not rely solely on sheer heaviness and are unafraid to experiment.
