AAWKS deliver a potent dose of fuzz-laden mysticism with their latest single, “Celestial Magick.” The six-minute track, taken from their forthcoming album On Through The Sky Maze (out March 21, 2025, via Black Throne Productions), is an otherworldly odyssey through crushing grooves, hypnotic harmonies, and thunderous riffs.
Anchored by Norse mythology, “Celestial Magick” paints a vivid narrative of a village bracing for an attack from Naglfar, the fabled ship of the dead. This mythic backdrop is infused with existential weight, exploring themes of mortality as both an ending and a passage to transformation. The band’s deft storytelling pairs seamlessly with their signature sound: equal parts melody and menace, cosmic exploration and grounded intensity.
Kris Dzierzbicki’s (vocals/guitar/synth) vocals guide the track, while the band’s layered instrumentation creates a sprawling sonic landscape. From the molten guitar riffs to the bone-rattling rhythm section, every element contributes to an immersive listening experience.
As Dzierzbicki explains,
“We wanted to create something that felt timeless yet immediate, a journey through space and time with riffs as your guide.”
“Celestial Magick” doesn’t just offer a glimpse into AAWKS’ next chapter but a statement of purpose. With its rich mythology, atmospheric heft, and dynamic composition, the track exemplifies their ability to balance the cerebral with the visceral.
