The title of the EP is a direct nod to Kurt Vonnegut’s novel Slaughterhouse-Five, and the influence of the work’s exploration of war and existential confusion is felt throughout the record. As vocalist and guitarist Joe Dorane says,
When you step back and look at the world, it’s impossible not to feel buried by the endless barrage of conflict.
This feeling permeates throughout the EP, as ChumHuffer channels the frustrations of being “stuck in time,” a theme that singer Shawn Refuse describes as reflecting both personal and global turmoil.
