By letting electronic pulses and emotional fallout share the same room without canceling each other out, Crooked Fingers steps into unfamiliar light with their latest single “Haunted”. From their forthcoming album Swet Deth (February 27th) Eric Bachmann’s writing moves with a weary honesty, and when Sharon Van Etten enters the chat, the song shifts from a solitary reckoning into something heavier and more human with the two voices circling the same ending from different angles. The beat keeps things in motion even as the mood tightens. It turns heartbreak into something strangely physical, almost kinetic, rather than purely reflective. “Haunted” does not reach for drama but it lets tension accumulate naturally and it trusts that the atmosphere and performance will carry the load.
