ALBUM REVIEW: Intraspectral by Lenka

The seventh studio album, Intraspectral, by Lenka is out now on the iconic songstress’ own label Skipalong Records.

On the album, Lenka partners with Josh Pike on “Champion”, a song about the kind of love where each in the relationship encourages the other to do their own thing and supports them without jealousy or fear.

On working with Josh, Lenka says,

“Working with Josh was literally a laugh a minute. I’m so glad we finally got to work together. We’ve known each other for years and years and he’s also in a healthy long term partnership. Might not be the coolest subject to write a pop song about but I feel like it’s worth immortalising these wins!”

And Josh adds this about their creative journey,

“I’ve known Lenka for years as a mate, but we’d never worked together, so when we eventually got together in my studio to write we already had a foundation of friendship to start from, and the song flowed really freely.  We also wanted to write an earworm that won’t leave your brain, and I think we achieved both things!”

And while “Champion” is a stand out track amongst the eleven on Instraspectral, the album as a whole explores love, inner strength, and more. Produced by Dave Jenkins Jr in Sydney, his partnership with Lenka travels through sounds from the 80’s to 00’s, cementing Lenka’s soft and velvety voice in energetic tracks that continue to show why she has a career that spans over fifteen years.

Instraspectral defies genres and Lenka’s voice defies time. Together Lenka and Instraspectral are a timeless duo that is brimming with savoury and sweet sentimental songs. Both allow one to escape into music that is dazzling and hypnotising, offering a moment of respite from the modern world.
