ALBUM REVIEW: To the Wolves by Stitched Up Heart

At the beginning of the month, Stitched Up Heart released their highly anticipated album To the Wolves on Century Media Records.

Opening with the title track that features fellow rockers Escape the Fate, the song sets up the album perfectly for one killer rock track after another. Every step the band has taken and with every track sees the band amping the intensity not only lyrically, but musically and vocally. That intensity carries over to them exploring darker subjects but smartly crafting songs that are anthem-esque and catchy as hell.

For those unfamiliar with Stitched Up Heart, their journey began in the City of Angels in 2010 and they have been melting faces and ears with their blend of hard rock and metal. With Alecia “Mixi” Demner on vocals and rhythm guitar, James Decker on drums and backing vocals, Merritt Goodwin on lead guitar, and Randy Mathias on bass and backing vocals the band released Never Alone (2016) and Darkness (2020) and toured with fellow rockers Godsmack, Halestorm, and In this Moment to name a few.

To the Wolves shows that Stitched Up Heart refuses to be confined by genres and allows critics and newcomers to see and hear what their fans have known from day one: Stitched Up Heart knows how to create energetic music that is filled with passion and heart.

That energy and passion can be heard throughout To the Wolves. While far from a concept album, the eleven tracks flow as if telling a story and perhaps that story is survival after being thrown to the proverbial wolves of life. Story or not, To the Wolves is not only a moment of brillant evolution of Stitched Up Heart but also a soulful sonic journey that is filled with unapologetic attitude.
