ALBUM REVIEW: Unextinct by Hideous Divinity

Fraaaaaaaaakkkkkk, Unextinct by Hideous Divinity is savage. And I loved every single face melting and mind expanding minute of it.

Hideous Divinity, the Rome-based powerhouse comprising members from Aborted, continues to push the boundaries of technical death metal with their latest release slated to hit the shelves via Century Media Records on March 22nd.

Set to the rhythm and tempo of death metal, Unextinct finds the band voyaging through cosmic terror and brutal existential crises. This untamed and unfiltered philosophical expedition encourages one to challenge the unknown forces that may dictate their lives.

Led by Enrico Di Lorenzo’s guttural vocals, the album features a perfect fusion of aggressive rhythms, frantic guitar melodies, and whip smart lyrics. Enrico Schettino‘s masterful guitar work weaves intricate patterns that entwine seamlessly with Stefano Franceschini‘s thunderous basslines, creating a sonic landscape that is both relentless and thought-provoking.

On the album, the band says,

“Unextinct sets a new milestone for Hideous Divinity, another step towards musical unspoken terror and frenzy. Every song has become a world with its own dissonances and rules made to be broken. A soundtrack of a shipwreck with the best sound production we’ve ever had: our brother Stefano ‘Saul’ Morabito at 16th Cellar Studios really outdid himself.”

Throughout the album, Hideous Divinity showcases their technical prowess and musical maturity, with each member contributing to the overall tapestry in a way that is both cohesive and dynamic. Davide Itri‘s session drums provide the perfect foundation for the band’s complex compositions, adding layers of intensity and depth to every track.

It’s hard to find stand out tracks when all ten are prime examples of the band’s ability to marry blistering aggression with introspective lyricism, leaving listeners simultaneously exhilarated and contemplative. From start to finish, Unextinct is a tour de force of technical death metal.

Relentlessly brutal, Unextinct is also undeniably beautiful.
