Shane Embury, a legendary figure in the world of heavy music, steps into uncharted territory with V.I.T.R.I.O.L., the first compilation from his experimental electronic project, Dark Sky Burial. Best known for his groundbreaking work with Napalm Death, Brujeria, and Tronos, Shane demonstrates his versatility as an artist by diving into layered, atmospheric sounds that push the boundaries of genre and expectation.
This compilation out on December 13th weaves together the intricate sonic narratives of Dark Sky Burial’s Maze Quadrology with additional tracks that highlight Shane’s boundary-breaking vision. Tracks like “Decay Is the Matrix of Fertility” and “Constellation of Archetypes” exemplify his ability to craft music that feels simultaneously alien and intimate, drawing one into a labyrinth of ever-shifting moods and textures.
Born out of the early days of the pandemic, Dark Sky Burial became Shane’s creative outlet during a time of personal and global upheaval. The project has evolved from its studio origins into something larger, with V.I.T.R.I.O.L. marking a pivotal step as Shene prepares to bring this music to the live stage.
As he explains,
“Studio albums are fun, but the need to make something spontaneous and unpredictable live is exciting… the urge to expand on those ideas is challenging for me and essential to my personal growth.”
Each track is a journey, shifting between haunting melodies and abrasive textures and this unflinching commitment to exploring the unknown is what sets V.I.T.R.I.O.L. apart. It’s a bold statement from an artist unafraid to confront his own shadows and guide his audience through the darkness.
