The lovely gents of ††† (Crosses), Chino Moreno and Shaun Lopez have given fans a present they didn’t know they needed.
An absolute banger of a cover of “One More Try” by George Michael.
From Michael’s debut solo album Faith, “One More Try” was the fourth single from the album and a number one hit for the iconic music maker.
No stranger to covers, ††† has also covered “The Beginning of the End” by Cause and Effect and “Goodbye Horses” by Q Lazzaurus.
If you are a regular reader, you may know that I have a theory when it comes to covers. There 3 right ways to do a cover:
- Make it an upgrade of the original while still sounding like or very similar to the original
- Make it your own and give it your signature sound or a unique sound
- Make it an upgrade of the original, make it your own, and douse that baby in your essence (aka sound).
Boy, does ††† nail this cover. They have taken the latter of the 3 and given “One More Try” a †††’s remix that is sheer perfection.
The duo successfully nails the heartache of Michael’s original with haunting vocals and synth that will give one chills to the core.
2022 is the year that ††† can do no wrong.
