DEBUT ALBUM REVIEW: Another Day in Paradise by Part Time Signals

Cardiff’s alternative music scene has to be buzzing with anticipation as the city’s very own Part Time Signals prepare to make their mark with their debut album, Another Day In Paradise, on October 20th via Bubblewrap Collective.

Part Time Signals, fronted by the talented Jacob Church, has crafted a collection of tracks that promise to captivate and resonate with listeners. In the lead-up to the release of Another Day in Paradise, fans have been given tantalising singles like “Take Me For A Ride”, “The Man”, and “Lazy”, all have hinted at the band’s potential at laid back grooves and easy soothing vibes.

The core of Part Time Signals’ sound is rooted in Jacob’s vision, with the band forming around his initial demo ideas. What started as a concept has evolved into a full-fledged musical entity, thanks to the contributions of Sam Barnes (bass), Gavin Jenkins (drums), and Michael Blanchfield (keys). Together, they’ve created a musical experience that is both introspective and engaging.

Recorded on a scorching day in August 2022 at the Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff, the album exudes the warmth and energy of that summer day. The band’s chemistry shines through in the tracks, reflecting the shared passion and camaraderie that comes from creating music together. Sam Barnes handled the mixing while Eddie Al-Shakarchi mastered the album, both bringing out the best in each song.

With a limited run of 100 vinyl copies, Part Time Signals gives those that crave a tactile experience and collector’s item for avid fans and of course, for those who only digest digitally, that is of course available too.

Another Day In Paradise is an exciting debut from Part Time Signals, a band that is ready, if they haven’t already, made its presence felt on the Welsh music scene. With its catchy tunes, introspective lyrics, and easy going vibes, Another Day In Paradise is a journey through life’s ups and downs, an exploration of emotions and experiences, and a statement to the band’s talent and power.
