DEBUT ALBUM REVIEW: ROYGBIV by Riley Max

Riley Max, an enormous young talent from Colorado, unveils her debut album, ROYGBIV. Composed, performed, and produced by Riley herself, the album explores the diverse colours of emotions that define moments and relationships in life and showcases her musical and writing talents.

The college bound student’s resume already boasts collaborations with renowned artists, live performances, and lead roles in various musical theatre productions. It is her work as a musician that sets her apart, as she presents a cohesive concept album for her first solo release.

ROYGBIV will fascinate listeners with its charming tracks, each representing a different colour of the emotional spectrum. From the jazz-infused allure of “Blue,” where Riley’s soulful voice transports listeners to another era, to the introspective and contemplative vibes of “Green,” the album takes one on a captivating journey through a myriad of emotions and experiences.

On the colours, Riley says,

The idea of doing the whole spectrum of colours was to show a very wide range of experiences and relationships.  I hope that everybody can relate to at least something in there and take something away

Riley’s creativity isn’t just limited to music either, she flexes her artistic talent through the album cover and self-scripted music video for “Blue.”

With a vision that stretches far beyond her years, ROYGBIV is a heartfelt debut album from Riley Max that allows her to connect and convey relatable experiences no matter the age.
