DEBUT EP REVIEW: Before It’s Gone by The Rolling People

Music Review

Since their inception The Rolling People have demonstrated an exceptional knack for crafting music that feels both in the moment and classic. Their debut EP, Before It’s Gone, is a milestone as their first release but also a showcase of their potential and ambition.

The Rolling People announce themselves with a fervour that is exhilarating and authentic in the opening track, “I’ll Be There”. The track captures their drive to constantly evolve, and the song’s infectious energy springs from a spontaneous jam session where the band harnessed a bass line into a full-fledged anthem.

“Grateful For Nothing” shifts the tone with its glam-infused guitars and relentless rhythm. It’s perfectly engineered to energise both live audiences and those rocking out at home. The song’s message is a clear statement about seizing control of one’s destiny and dismissing detractors. It’s a powerful reminder that personal empowerment is a choice and not a given.

The title track “Before It’s Gone” finds the band refining their sound by balancing hope with urgency. The straightforward composition belies a depth that signals their growing confidence and ability to leverage their collective strengths.

On the flip side, the unrestrained energy of “The Thief” kicks off with pugnacious riffs and fiery lyrics that critique the dynamics of power. With raw intensity, both lyrically and musically, it seems the band is on the cusp of changing the world by their willingness to confront and challenge societal norms.

“No Place To Be” is evidence of The Rolling People’s versatility. With the dynamic shifts between aggressive and introspective moments, the song blends their post-punk influences with their established indie rock style, and the result is a track that highlights their creative experimentation and their ability to induce a range of emotions within a song.

Closing the EP is their fan favourite, “Better Man (Acoustic)”. It’s both a heartfelt nod to their supporters and a reimagined version that showcases the band’s growth since the original recording. With its additional layers and harmonies, it’s a fitting tribute to their fans and a reminder of their ability to evolve while staying true to their roots.

Before It’s Gone underscores The Rolling People’s infectious energy and sincere songwriting and why they had a rapid rise to success. It’s clear that Before It’s Gone is not just a collection of songs but a harbinger of greater things to come for The Rolling People.
