DEBUT SINGLE: “Runnin in the Rain” by Nico Cann

Music
Shelia Taylor
December 8, 2024

Drawing on the analogue warmth of 70s rock and the bold textures of 90s alternative, Nico Cann has crafted a debut single, “Runnin in the Rain”, that captures a powerful sense of motion and emotion.

Balancing raw vulnerability with moments of uplift, the track envelops one in a sonic landscape that’s richly layered yet strikingly intimate. Nico’s attention to detail is evident in every note, as he merges influences from legends like Bruce Springsteen and Phil Spector with the experimental edge of contemporary artists such as Jack Antonoff.

The result is a song that moves seamlessly between the nostalgic and the modern. Exploring universal themes with authenticity and nuance, Nico’s storytelling draws on his own journey from adolescence to adulthood as he pours his experiences, fears, and dreams into the song. Its balance of light and dark is mirrored in music and dynamic sounds that encourage reflection.

As the first taste of his upcoming EP, Silver Lining, “Runnin in the Rain” establishes Nico Cann as a young artist with an old soul, capable of bridging generations with his culturally expansive, genre-defying music.
