The Netherlands alt rock band, The Optimist in Me has one goal – encouraging one to embrace their inner optimist.
While it may seem like a lofty goal, music is the key. It is after all a Universal language we all understand. With music as their weapon of choice plus their live shows to aid them, The Optimist in Me aims to let others join their journey and to let others know, they are never alone.
From their forthcoming debut album, You Should Smile More Often (November 17) that was recorded with Caleb Bingham (ex-Five Finger Death Punch) and Dutch artist Dan Brooklyn comes the title track.
Upbeat with a bit of mayhem and mischievousness, “You Should Smile More Often” explores the struggle between positivity and negativity and how the internal conflict sometimes steals the joy from the moment one is in.
What’s great about the song is that the words ‘you should smile more often’ isn’t meant to control but is a way to simply say to one ‘stop listening to the devil and angel on your shoulders and focus on the moment you are in’. If that moment is joy, smile about it.
