The 90’s alternative music scene called, and its pissed British rockers Read the Room didn’t exist back then.
Hailing from Norwich, Read the Room is Alana Beardsley-Best (vocals), Adam Hearth (guitar), Alex London (guitar), Dan Dawson (bass), and Elle Steele (drums, backing vocals). While drawing inspiration from Biffy Clyro, Don Broco, and Blink 182, their sound embodies a wonderful essence reminiscent of 90s alternative rock bands such as Veruca Salt, The Cardigans, Garbage, Live, Everclear, and Cornershop.
Radiating an effervescent and energetic vibe, their debut single, “Jade,” has a to die for bassline, catchy lyrics, and infectious beats, but the brilliance of Read the Room extends beyond their debut single.
Their debut EP, A Place Like No Other, is fifteen minutes and forty-eight seconds of pure glorious nostalgia for this Gen X’er. The way that Read the Room cleverly merges the best elements of 90s alternative rock with a viral modern edge is what sends me down memory lane.
Fusing compelling basslines, gripping guitars, infectious drumming, and fierce vocals, Read the Room is twisting music of the past and present into something uniquely their own. A Place Like No Other is fresh with infectious track after infectious track that perfectly blends retro vibes and present day energy.
