EP REVIEW: In Acetate by The Black Delta Movement

Music Review
Shelia Taylor
November 16, 2023

In Acetate by The Black Delta Movement follows the band’s sophomore release Recovery Effects that was released earlier this year. The EP not only serves as a companion to the previous album, it also features a remix of “Fourth Pass Over the Graveyard” by the legendary UNKLE and “Photograph” by Ill Japonia (Taigen Kawabe of Bo Ningen).

Continuing where Recovery Effects ended, In Acetate is a sonic trip through one’s psyche that is fueled with deep grooves, soaring guitars, and drumming that would make The Grateful Dead proud.

On the UNKLE remix, Matt Burr says,

“I’ve been a huge fan of UNKLE for a long time so last year when the album was released I sent it to James Lavelle as a pure  shot in the dark and he said he would like to remix this song. To say I’m buzzed about it is an understatement.”

In Acetate is the perfect dose of psych-rock, capturing the essence of a perception-altering experience without the need for hallucinogenic drugs.

MUST LISTEN TRACKS: “Fourth Pass Over the Graveyard”, “Photograph”, “303”

In Acetate is out November 17th.
