EP REVIEW: Moments Between Dreams by Ella Haber

I want more of Ella Haber and twenty-two minutes and ten seconds is not enough, but Moments Between Dreams is stellar nonetheless.

With her rich, lush, and velvety vocals, Ella explores self-discovery within the six tracks of her latest EP. Soulful and heartfelt not only characterise her lyrics but also her voice. Listening to Ella, one is transported to a dimly lit jazz club where all attention is on her weaving magic with the sheer power of her voice. Her voice is mesmerising and magnificent.

In Moments Between Dreams, Ella invites listeners on a personal journey and with disarming honesty she lays bare her innermost thoughts and feelings, both musically and emotionally. It’s through her intimate melodies and introspective lyrics that one can hear and feel Ella’s talent and strength.

On the EP, Ella says,

“I needed to release myself from my own numbness, isolation, inactivity and loneliness induced by successive lockdowns, a long-term relationship coming to a close and a disconnection from my own body and heart. As soon as lockdown ended, I found new love, threw myself into activism and connected deeply with new friends for the first time in years. I felt a profound hope for the future, and I felt a restlessness to dive into the next chapter of my life with all senses open and alive with feeling.”

Her lyrics paint pictures of love, loss, loneliness and everything in between as each song reveals a different facet of Ella’s experiences in life. Through her soulful journey, she has gifted us all a mesmerising and beautiful EP.
