HOT TRACK: “Blind Spot” by Nina Leo

Music
Shelia Taylor
August 7, 2024

There’s something to be said for music that is understated. While not simple, Nina Leo’s latest single, “Blind Spot,” is a seductively gritty track that embodies not only who Nina Leo is but the essence of raw rock ‘n’ roll.

Recorded at Infidel Studios in NSW and produced by Louis Montgomery (known for his work with SAFIA and Lucy Sugerman), “Blind Spot” is a powerful expression of losing control and navigating internal transformation. Mastered by Tahlia-Rose Coleman, the track combines an intense and slow-burning sound with deeply personal lyrics that turn pain into empowerment.

Nina Leo drew from her real-life experiences as a form of therapy and self-healing for “Blind Spot”. The emotional connection translates into a visceral listening experience, that blends heavy builds and the emotions of femme rock with a distinctive and raw edge that is dirty and courageous.

“Blind Spot” is a seductively gritty masterpiece that not only introduces Nina Leo’s compelling sound to a new audience when she headlines her first show in Naarm (Melbourne) at The Retreat on August 15th, but it also sets the stage for an exciting chapter in her musical journey.
