My appreciation for Davey Oberlin’s All the Damn Vampires and their latest track, “Carolina Lies,” can be traced back to a moment of serendipity – all thanks to James Hart of Eighteen Visions. His partnering with All the Damn Vampires on “Runaway Dream” from Synth City is still a music highlight from 2022 that I will always be grateful for.
As a child and early teen of the 80’s, All the Damn Vampires really satiates my younger self’s ‘80’s music loving heart. Add in a line from one of my favourite 80’s movies and well, I’m gonna be a fan…for life.
In the latest synth masterpiece, “Carolina Lies”, finds All the Damn Vampires joining forces with Pensacola Mist and Andy James, creating a musical synergy that’s nothing short of enchanting. It’s the kind of collaboration that takes something one already adores, like everything All the Damn Vampires has released, and elevates it to new heights.
“Carolina Lies” maintains that irresistible quality that keeps one coming back for more All the Damn Vampires while still managing to showcase the essence of what the band is with ease.
That ease is what I’ve always enjoyed about All the Damn Vampires. The music, the lyrics, and the mood are comforting, familiar, and a gateway through space and time.
All the Damn Vampires once again transports one back to cherished moments and memories and continues to give timeless treasures through lush synths and beats that are as enduring as the ’80s were.
