Faux Hex, the subterranean electronic duo featuring Erotic Secrets of Pompeii’s Tom Hackwell on guitar, synths, vocals and Thomas Hawtin on vocals have unleashed their latest single, “Equinox Dialogue”.
Described as a marriage between trip hop and electro-clash with a moody and abrasive edge,“Equinox Dialogue” is not for the faint-hearted or closed minded. With inspiration drawn from the works of Harold Pinter and Caryl Churchill, the duo have created an experimental piece that is infectious, catchy, and a downright jam.
Looking at human disasters fuelled by hate and greed, “Equinox Dialogue” is not only a strong message on society’s failures but also a wonderful trip through noise.
And I do not mean noise negatively as each individual note, sound, clash, crash, and so on are intriguing on their own, but combined with the lyrics and vocals become a wonderful symphony of sound that is interesting, moving, and inspiring.
Being that Faux Hex and “Equinox Dialogue” is the brainchild of two members of ESOP, the fact that this song is intricate, lush, avant-garde, whip smart and feels like a journey through an existential crisis makes sense. It’s who Tom and Thomas and Faux Hex are, innate geniuses who have mastered sonic experimentation.
Weaving together the harsh realities of life with the ethereal essence of human emotion, “Equinox Dialogue” is a beautiful cacophony of noise that becomes a symphony of dystopian visions and electronic reverberations.
