From Tetrarch’s ferocious sound a wonderful raw and visceral vulnerability pours out and that was what hooked me from the very moment I heard their music. Their 2021 album, Unstable, held a permanent rotation spot the year it was released.
Now the band is back with their latest single, “Live Not Fantasize,” and it’s a visceral reminder of why they’re at the forefront of modern nu metal. The song bursts with an aggressive sound that combines pummeling guitars and drums, along with a touch of 90s industrial flair. The relentless energy of the song is inescapable and it is unmistakable as a perfect anthem for anyone ready to break free from negativity.
There’s a lot of great things about “Live Not Fantasize”. The gritty and haunting vocals of Josh Fore. The barrage of drums from Ryan Lerner. The thundering bass lines from Ruben Limas. But I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that guitarist Diamond Rowe absolutely steals the show. For me, Diamond is not only an underrated guitarist, she feels like she is the heart of the song. Her guitar skills are as fierce as they are refined and she truly shines in “Live Not Fantasize”.
Her wailing solos and quick riffage add an electric charge that perfectly complements Josh’s vocals and the rhythm of Ryan and Ruben. Together, they create a sound that is not only intense but is uniquely their own. One knows instantaneously they are listening to a Tetrarch song.
Diamond and Josh joined renowned producer Dave Otero for the production of the track and it is crisp and powerful, amplifying every note and ensuring the weight of each beat is felt deep within the soul.
“Live Not Fantasize” is a clarion call for one to confront their inner struggles and emerge stronger. Tetrarch has crafted a powerful piece that captures their growth and sets the stage for what’s to come.
