There’s magic in what Davey Oberlin has created with All the Damn Vampires. It’s not just a trek back in time for those that love the sound of the 80’s like myself but it’s a chance for younger guns to discover the finesse and alchemy of what a great synth can bring to a sound.
With “Moments and Memories” All the Damn Vampires is joined by Ryan Rose who has also been on ATDV tracks “Breaking Up” and “Escape to the Night” and the duo continues to find this wonderful marriage of heartfelt vocals and contagious beats that brings joy to one listening.
When I first listened to “Moments and Memories” I could easily see the song in scenes from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Pretty in Pink.
There’s a wonderful ease to the Ryan’s vocals and a beautiful hypnotising beat to the music that allows one to slip back into a moment or memory of when everything in the world was right and good.
That’s the magic of All the Damn Vampires. In listening to them, one is given a chance to feel good, feel alive, and feel as if there is nothing but an enchanting world around them.
“Moments and Memories” is the chance to escape the current and modern horrors of the world around and to just float in a magnificent dreamscape filled with wave after wave of synths that will make a soul smile.
