As Black Veil Brides and VV head out on a co-headlining tour, Black Veil Brides and VV (VIlle Valo) have released a cover of “Temple of Love” by Sisters of Mercy.
While I have no doubt VV could do a solid cover of the legendary gothic rockers, I was on the fence about Black Veil Brides. It’s no disrespect to the band. I absolutely dig BVB and have been a fan of everything they have done. It’s just that as a Sisters of Mercy fan from my childhood and teen years, I hold a dear spot in my heart for the vocals of Andrew Eldritch.
Andy Biersack can sing, but could he do Andrew justice?
The answer is a resounding, hell fucking yeah.
Also doing Andrew justice is Ville.
The combined vocal power of this duo is phenomenal and if I’m honest, if they could do covers of Love and Rockets and Bauhaus, I might be the happiest child of the 80’s on the planet.
Neither Andy nor VV try to emulate Andrew, but both have channelled the wonderfully deep baritone of Andrew’s voices within their own. My soul died a little, in a good way, as I listened to their vocals create a new world and depth for “Temple of Love”.
Further adding to the depth is the music for “Temple of Love”, Black Veil Brides dragged the original into the now with wailing guitars, rip roaring drums, and a bass that crushes what is left of my soul.
