Out now, “The Jig” from four piece Hungry and it’s an infectious little rock tune that’s a superb balance of rock and punk with a dash of ska vibes. It’s so wonderfully infectious that one can dance their little heart out to it while others can mosh their little heart out to it.
Hungry songwriter Jacob Peck says this of the inspiration for “The Jig”,
It’s 13 years of Conservative rule and a neoliberal orthodoxy that has given the UK a callous and self-righteous ruling class that views anyone beneath as overdramatic and lazy. It seems of late that the governmental system may be revealing itself, one of corruption, dishonesty and embezzlement. In many ways the lyrics call for a collective consciousness of that.
The bass in the song is enthralling but it’s the high octane guitar that wails and cries that steals the musical show and once the vocals are added in, it makes me feel as if I’m listening to the musical grandchild of The Clash.
“The Jig” is an exciting protest song jam packed with rip roaring guitar and bass riffs, crashing drums, and a message that says it’s time to stand up and get into good trouble.
