Pretty Vacant One faves, Violet Blend, is back with a brand spanking new single called “Voices in My Head“.
“Voices in My Head” follows on the heels of the band’s second album Demons (Eclipse Records, April 2022) and continues that internal look at the demons within. The song looks at insecurity, fear, and the doubt of not being up to something and the desire to rid the chains that hold one back and how the thoughts in one’s head can prevent one from living freely.
The song would have fit lovely into Demons but is just as amazing on its own. I really dig the heaviness of the guitar and drums against the softness of the piano/keys. The bass plays wonderfully against Giada’s heartfelt voice. What really impresses me is the operatic chorus that reminds me of Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma”. I was already into the song, but that epic operatic vibe made me fall in love with it anymore.
“Voices in My Head” is a huge song. I feel that is shows how much the band has grown from Demons musically, lyrically, vocally. Just as the song desires of getting rid of chains, Violet Blend has also gotten rid of chains and the restraints that might have been holding them back on their previous works.
If “Voices in My Head” is any indication of what album number 3 is going to be like, Violet Blend fans are about to be blown out of the water.
