From his upcoming album Another Year in the Minors, Pigeon Club has released the touching, “Ancient History.” The mastermind behind Pigeon Club is multi-instrumentalist musician and songwriter Wayne Whittaker and on the song he says,
“My grandmother was in her early 90s when I moved to LA and I knew that realistically I only had a handful of opportunities to see her again, so that’s originally what I started writing about. But then early last year I lost a close friend from high school, Pat. He taught me so much about life and friendship and music – all within the small window of time that high school offers. A week or so after his funeral we tracked ‘Ancient History.’”
The accompanying video is a time capsule of home videos from his childhood plus a rainy day porch performance in Lost Angeles. While the video captures wonderful moments in time it also aligns in perfection with the music and lyrics. In the quietude of the vocals and music, Pigeon Club captures the reflection of moments long gone but moments held close to the heart.
Heartfelt, honest, and a tribute to family and friends, “Ancient History” reverberates with the impermanence of life but the enduring emotion of love.
