LISTEN: “Caer Bryn” by Shop Front Heroes

Could Mid-Wales witness a sonic revolution with Shop Front Heroes’ latest track, “Caer Bryn”

From their forthcoming  debut album, SuperPowers (December 1), vocalist Stevie Yeomans draws inspiration from a familial touchstone, the Caer Bryn property in Mid-Wales, to deliver a nostalgic and poignant exploration of alternate destinies.

Joining Stevie in the nostalgic tune are Shop Front Hero members Jake Owen (lead guitar, vocals), Matt Whitehouse (drums), Tom Jaques (guitar, vocals), and Alex Middleton (bass). The gents poetically muse on what could have been if a different path had been chosen. As the song delves into longing and the relentless march of time, drawing parallels between Stevie’s father’s past venture at the Caer Bryn property and the band’s current odyssey in crafting their debut album SuperPowers.

Bottling the essence of Welsh culture, anyone listening to “Caer Bryn” will want to buy a ticket to experience their own version of the song. With the Welsh Male Vocal Choir, poignant lyrics, grand drums, piano, and vocals, “Caer Bryn” is authentic and emotionally charged.

Stevie says this of the song,

This is the most personal song that I have written, and although there’s an element of artistic licence involved, the honesty of the situation is at its core for all to see and hear. ‘Caer Bryn’ is a passionate, honest song. Hearts are on the sleeve and you can’t hide from the feeling of truth and raw emotion when you listen to it or perform it.

As a universal tale of passion and sacrifice, the beauty of “Caer Bryn” is that anyone listening could easily place their own special place into the song and the meaning would be the same.

On the universal connection, Stevie further adds,

I think that every one of us has our own Caer Bryn somewhere. It doesn’t have to be built from love and stone, as was the case here, but it’s that one thing in your life that you’ve given everything for and put your soul on the line for. Whatever happens you’ll always be a hero if you’ve done that.

“Caer Bryn” is a universal ode to those who sacrifice everything for their passions and a wonderful glimpse into what SuperPowers will be for Shop Front Heroes.
