Lilac Haze has gone from 80’s dreamy romance to ‘manic pixie dream girl’ or should I say “Daisy Girl”.
What I really enjoy is that “Daisy Girl” shows another side of who Lilac Haze is not only vocally but musically. The ethereal vocals that exudes from Lilac Haze are still there but there’s a layer of 80’s pop spice that adds oomph and sparkle that was not heard in the debut tracks, “The Ghost That I Once Knew” and “Lilac Haze”. And rightly so as those tracks were musically darker and more sombre than “Daisy Girl”.
Lilac Haze, aka singer songwriter, Katrina Swift, says this of “Daisy Girl”,
We all have a little ‘daisy girl’ within us, giving courage to take a chance on something new and different. I wrote this song with the idea of pursuing new relationships with an open heart without letting fear paralyse an opportunity for happiness. We had a great time experimenting with different guitar sounds for this track, and had fun creating this sweet treat.
Like Lilac Haze’s vocals, the music sparkles and shines in shades of gold dust and glitter and is effervescent and carefree. The song may be about pursuing relationships with an open heart, but the music conveys that same sense of openness, ease, and comfort.
