The vibrant pop-rock band from suburban Western Australia, Ojay emerges with their latest single, “December Snow”.
Departing from their pop-punk roots, the soulful offering of “December Snow” signals a fresh perspective for the band and captures the complexity of long-distance love during the holidays, juxtaposing Australian Christmas with traditional wintry scenes.
In the song, the band says,
“Even though we come from a pop-punk background and the hard-rock/hardcore scene of southern Perth, this song is primarily influenced by the likes of Marvin Gaye, Ed Sheeran, Elvis, etc. We’ve always been massively influenced by those kinds of songs, so we figured we might as well just release one.”
With its soulful melodies and heartfelt narrative, “December Snow” extends an invitation for personal interpretation, whether it be a reflection on distant relationships or a tender homage to lost loved ones, it’s an emotional tribute to absent loved ones during festive times.
