Disconnected Souls have released a new single, “Delirium”, from their forthcoming album Fragments of Consciousness (January 19th).
Known for their blend of electronic, classical, and metal, “Delirium” further adds a hip-hop element to the band’s already diverse arsenal.
On the song, Patrick Lloyd (clean and harsh vocals, programming), says,
“‘Delirium’ is a song of addiction and the impact it has on the individual and those around them. Musically, the song contains inspiration from clubby EDM tracks, crushing metalcore, and a sprinkling of downbeat hip hop.”
While the topic is heavy, the sound is heavier with beautifully controlled beats that have an intensity that matches the vocals to a tee. The programming and instrumental work are fantastic but it’s the vocals that make “Delirium”.
They wonderfully showcase the addict versus impact of their addiction through the vocals. For me, the harsh male vocals are the addict, angry, defiant, and perhaps unaware of their own addiction and the softer clean vocals of Holly F Royle offer a viewpoint of the impact of addiction, the hurt, the pain, and the wanting to help.
“Delirium” offers an inside look at the anger of addiction and the pain it causes.
