I know K-Pop is a phenomenon and it’s one I’m very unfamiliar with. To say I haven’t dived into would be an understatement. I can only name one band, BTS. I know zero of their songs nor could I pick a member out of a police line up of two, but I do know their fans are diehards and that they have done amazing things like reclaiming hashtags, donating to charities, and making the band themselves the pinnacle of all things music.
My first dive into P-Pop (Philippines pop) is the sister group 4th Impact (formerly 4th Power). Almira, Irene, Mylene, and Celina Cercado hail from the Philippines but are now based in Los Angeles, California and from a young age, the sisters embarked on a musical journey that would see them place in the Top 5 Finalist of the twelfth season of The X Factor UK.
4th Impact have won the World Championships of Performing Arts twice (2006 as Junior Vocal Group World Champion and 2013 as Senior Vocal Group Grand Champion) and performed in the South Korean talent show Superstar K6.
They sisters have also won awards including Pop Girl Group of the Year at the 2022 PPOP Awards and Pop Youth Model of the Year at the 2021 PPOP Awards.
4th Impact is gearing up to make their mark in the international pop music scene with their debut single in the United States, “Distorted”. Produced by Miklos Malek, this song encapsulates what their dedicated fan base already admires about them: enchanting harmonies, heartfelt lyrics, and an irresistible blend of sugary-sweet pop greatness.
Listening to “Distorted”, one can detect subtle influences from pop acts like the Pussycat Dolls, Nicole Scherzinger, and Destiny’s Child but the sister’s infuse their own personas and style into the song.
With 4th Impact‘s dynamic and lively vocals, catchy melodies, and empowering lyrics, “Distorted” is a vibrant, sassy, and fun track that exudes energy.
With their US debut single, 4th Impact is sure to captivate a broader audience and establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the international music scene.
