Part indie, part neo-soul, and one hundred percent powerhouse, Harlem based songstress TANSU is soulfully showing how to say goodbye in her latest single, “Easy Love”.
Attending Berklee College of Music allowed TANSU to not only hone her voice but to try any style she wanted. Blending an infusion of pop, soul, R&B, and electronic gives TANSU a luscious sound. With friend and longtime collaborator Dave Rublin of American Authors at the production helm, TANSU’s forthcoming EP, The City chronicles a life well lived.
On the song, TANSU says,
“It is a song about letting go of a friend while respecting the life and beauty the relationship once shared. A loving tribute to someone you can no longer be there for, the song helps us all tell our former friends to take it easy, love.”
The reflective and heartfelt lyrics show a vulnerable soul coming to realise that letting go is what’s for the best, but “Easy Love” also allows for the grief of the loss and gives it the space it deserves and in turn makes it a rich full bodied experience of letting go, loss, and grief. Guiding the lyrics is TANSU’s graceful and soulful vocals. Like a beacon in the night, her voice shines bright and is comforting in the dead of night. There’s a welcoming and calming ease to her vocals as if one were being wrapped in gentle hug.
“Easy Love” is delicate yet strong and a beautiful ode to letting go.
