In the single, “Even Giants Fall” by Irish artist Issac Butler there is a line that resonates with my heart.
The lyric, ‘saw you crying for the first time’ instantly took me back to the first time I saw my own dad crying. It is a moment of vulnerability that will always remind me of the sentiments Issac is singing about his own father in the tribute to his own father.
On the song, Issac says,
“This song is a sort of hat tip to my old man, for my entire life he’s been my soundboard, my go-to person when things aren’t going my way, and a constant source of advice. This song is my way of saying thank you and also that if or when he needs me to return the favor, I’m here.”
He further adds,
“When I was a kid, and even through teenage years, and to be honest, sometimes now, I see him as having this superhuman ability to stay level-headed in the toughest of situations. It’s a trait that I really hope I can learn from him.”
“Even Giant Falls” doesn’t just tug at the heartstrings, it rips it open and lets the emotions pour freely. The heartfelt ode to fathers is a stunning reminder of the impact that father’s have on our lives.
