Making his first mark in 2024, Scandinavian pop artist Noel’s latest single, “Everything’s Fine” features Tessa Odden and is from his upcoming debut EP, Headed North (March 8th).
Noel said this about the song,
“When writing this song, I dove into the ‘what ifs’ that I keep reminiscing about and the relationships that could have been that I keep on romanticizing. The song is a mix of memories and feelings, but also my imagination of the perfect world where ‘what ifs’ became reality. I sometimes think about the people who I thought would play a big part in my life but who I have no connection to at all today, and ‘Everything’s Fine’ is a reflection of those thoughts.”
The heartfelt song about regret is balanced perfectly between the yin and yang voices of Noel and Tessa and he says this of their duet,
“Growing up I’ve always loved listening to duets. When scrolling on Spotify I stumbled upon Tessa and was immediately intrigued by her voice. She is amazing and I was so thrilled when she wanted to do this duet with me. We spent a day together in Stockholm and recorded the song which was a great experience altogether, and I’m so happy with how this song turned out.”
Tessa adds,
“Noel has an amazing voice and is a skilled songwriter. We have quite a similar style, so it was really fun to do a duet together. I hope people like it as much as I do!”
Through the lyrics, vocals, and music, one can hear and feel the hurt and ache. The cathartic “okay not being okay” narrative allows acceptance and healing. Bluffing its way through the hurt so as to appear stronger in the end, there is a fragile tenderness of “Everything’s Fine” that is heartfelt and sincere.
