The latest single, “Extraordinary Times” from My Best Unbeaten Brother’s debut album Pessimistic Pizza out on June 28 provides a false sense of 90s grunge familiarity in its opening before it beautifully erupts into a cataclysmic wall of sound that is infectious, catchy, and almost riotous.
While mentioning Morrissey and summoning the spirits of their other bands, Nosferatu D2 and Superman Revenge Squad, the brother duo of Ben and Adam Parker have created a sound that is full of zeal, heart, and hope.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Ben Parker describes the song as,
“a post-Brexit cry for something better in a time and place where it feels like all the good stuff is going away and all the bad people are winning.”
As a voice of a generation lounging for something better, My Best Unbeaten Brother perfectly captures the essence of disillusionment while simultaneously offering a glimmer of hope and a call for change. With its earnest lyrics and vibrant melodies, “Extraordinary Times” is a reflection on the current socio-political climate. And while the message is important, the track’s rich harmonies and melodies, raw energy and heartfelt delivery is pure, genuine, and honest-to-goodness rock-n-roll.
