From the first orchestral surge to the final blast beat, Vesseles reclaims power and fury in “Flesh Throne”. The latest single doesn’t ask for attention, it of course demands it. The song is a fiery statement of intent that is rooted in symphonic black metal but elevated by Valira Pietrangel’s singular vision as composer and guitarist.
There’s cinematic weight behind every moment, but it isn’t theatrical for theatrics’ sake. Valira, a demon in myth and creative force in practice, threads purpose through grandeur. The arrangement feels less like a song and more like a ritualistic summoning. The orchestration never softens the aggression, it instead amplifies it by weaving between punishing riffs and commanding vocal work from J Burial.
With last year’s EP, I Am a Demon, taking on identity dysphoria, rage, and revelation, “Flesh Throne” is a step, maybe even a leap, into full empowerment of understanding who one is. The song radiates with authority by channeling the band’s mythology and ethos into four tightly constructed minutes. The accompanying video delivers on the song’s vision with Valira on a throne and unapologetically judging humanity just as she was judged.
In a genre often prone to excess or repetition, “Flesh Throne” carves out its own space. It’s sharp, assured, and theatrically punishing but more importantly It’s the sound of a band, and a demon, fully stepping into their power.
