From the forthcoming album, Until the Light Takes Us (February 21st), Rapt’s current single, “I Will Be My End,” stands as a poignant centerpiece in their eclectic and continually evolving musical journey. With roots in the UK’s extreme metal scene, Rapt’s mastermind, Jacob Ware, transformation into a folk storyteller reaches new heights by delivering a track that is as delicate as it is devastating.

The fingerpicked melodies evoke a timeless and ethereal quality. Stripped down yet rich, each note and nuance shines while Jacob’s voice carries a raw vulnerability. It’s his reflection on his struggles with early-onset rheumatoid arthritis and epilepsy that allows him to craft a narrative that explores human fragility with grace. Lines referencing mythical figures like Medusa seamlessly intertwine with the reality of his physical challenges and adds a layer of meaning that rewards close listening.

But “I Will Not Be My End” is not a song of defeat but of resilience. Its tone straddles acceptance and defiance. Its quiet intensity invites reflection. It’s a track that feels deeply connected to life’s most challenging moments while offering solace in its beauty.

“I Will Be My End” is a testament to Rapt’s ability to transform pain into art. They’ve created a song that feels timeless, deeply personal, and universally affecting.
