Originally from the UK and now based in Perth, Australia, The Effigy is a rock metal act that is reminiscent of Garbage and Evanescence. With their latest single, “Infiltrate” features Tim Kohn and has the band performing harsh vocals for the very first time on a release. The haunting ethereal vocals of Effy Gold gracefully weaves through interlaced guitars, thunderous drums, and reverberating basslines as “Infiltrate” unveils a darker and heavier facet of The Effigy.
On the song, Effy says,
“‘Infiltrate’ is a song about being deceived and lied to, and trying to break free, but finding yourself inexplicably tethered to the abuse. Originally, ‘Infiltrate’ was one of my calmer, more introspective tracks, but when Tim came on board, we decided to twist the song to better represent the emotion behind the lyrics. Tim added a much needed aggression to the track with the addition of a breakdown and encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone and try harsh vocals for the first time.”
In its seamless raw intensity and melodic finesse, “Infiltrate” is The Effigy’s bold exploration into a heavier sound that is daring and captivating.
