“JUST USE YOUR HIPS VAR. VI” introduces a sultry and smokey lounge vibe to Frog’s repertoire and expands the band’s already eclectic sound.
From the forthcoming 1000 Variations on the Same Song (February 14th), the track’s smooth rhythm and understated groove offer a refreshing contrast to the energetic indie rock Frog is known for. Daniel Bateman’s effortless fusion of conversational lyrics and moody instrumentals paints a scene that’s as intimate as it is stylish. It also reveals a more playful and experimental side of the duo. With the hypnotic repetition in the composition mirroring the album’s theme of “same same but different”, the track seamlessly ties into the album’s concept.
With this single, Frog captures their adventurous spirit and demonstrates their ability to explore new textures without losing their edge.
