Making a splash with her debut single, “Tired of Waiting” in January of 2023, Raylee Forest is riding the ripples of success and continuing to make waves with her latest single, “Mask”.
Raylee is not only blending her classical foundation with pop, but also her love of East Asian pop and its Western counterparts to create a genre that aims to redefine what pop music can and should be.
With “Mask”, Raylee provides a delectable chant for those who aim to be their authentic selves by admitting most humans wear a mask – be it to survive each day or to just get through life.
What I enjoy about Raylee’s “Mask” are lyrics like
They come with all kinds of expressions…Series of Joy is a popular one released at the end of 2000
It reminds me of an article I read regarding David Bowie and his interaction with a shy autistic child during the Labyrinth press and how he admitted to the child, he too wore an invisible mask when he felt shy.
And Raylee adds to the illusion with “Mask”. It empowers others and lets others know it’s perfectly acceptable to sometimes wear a mask, but at the end of the day, when the mask is off, one must also accept and love the real them.
